How we use the personal data we collect

Contact forms

When you use the contact form on the website, we collect the information on the form, the date it is sent and the source URL, so that we can contact you. These data are recorded in our database. A copy of the data is also sent by email to our communications department.

Cookies

When you visit our site, a cookie will be set up to remember your language preference. It will last for one year. An identification cookie will also be downloaded so that individual security settings can be applied. This cookie is placed by CloudFlare and will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to track visitors. No data which could identify you is sent to Google Analytics. Your IP address is anonymised before it is sent to Google. Google Analytics’ reports present only aggregate data (e.g. all French users; all mobile phone users). Newsletters

You can susbcribe to the Antenna Foundation newsletter. To do this, you will need to provide your email address. We use MailChimp to send emails to our subscribers. MailChimp’s privacy policy can be found here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/. Your email address is therefore sent to and stored by MailChimp. When an email is sent via MailChimp, the number of emails opened and the number of clicks in the emails are recorded. This data is linked to your email address. MailChimp also uses your IP address to identify your geolocation and detect the language of your operating system in order to .identify the language that you use. In every email you receive, you will find:

  • an Update my preferences link giving permission to use your email address or update your preferred language
  • an Unsubscribe link enabling you to stop receiving emails from us

Use and disclosure of your personal data

Your personal data will not be sent to any third party, with the exception of:

  • your email address (MailChimp)
  • any items embedded in the articles (e.g. YouTube reader, Open Street Map etc.)

How long we retain your data

Messages sent via the contact form are stored in our database for 60 days. The corresponding email addresses may be stored for up to two years.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account, you may ask for a file containing all the personal data we hold about you, including any information you have supplied. You can also ask for your personal data to be erased. This does not apply to data stored for regulatory, legal or security reasons.

For personal data to be erased, the applicant must provide evidence of identity.

Disclosure of your personal data

We will not disclose your personal data except with your express consent unless the law requires us to do so or disclosure is necessary to protect our rights.
